Obituary

Mildred Frances McHann died on February 23, 2019.  Family and friends will gather at Forest Hill Funeral Home, 2440 Whitten Road, on Thursday, February 28th from 1-2 pm, with a service 2-3 pm.  This past season, Millie had enjoyed the best of Christmases, like so many other recent gatherings she hosted in her home.  The last of which were of the utmost harmonious, peaceful atmosphere.  But the following month turned more trying for Millie, as her heart and breathing began requiring more effort; followed by a two-week stay in the hospital.  And then, her lasts days becoming a more peaceful decline and surrender.  Born in Ripley, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Lee Lafayette and Minnie Etta Bryant.  She attended Shady Grove High, then worked at Blue Bonnet shirt factory and the phone company; she waited tables at Wind Jammer Restaurant, and, by midlife, became a business partner with husband, Gerald Ray McHann and son, Phillip McHann in metal building construction.  She was a decades-long member of Leaclair and Leawood Baptist Churches.  She leaves son, Michael Ray McHann and wife Margie; daughte,r Marianne McHann and husband David Henderson; son, Phillip McHann and wife Jane; and daughter, Elizabeth Kim Sprayberry and husband Dennis.  She was preceded in her death by her husband, Gerald Ray McHann; daughter, Nina Carol McHann; and her four siblings: Gaston Elmo (Bill) Bryant and Jessie Lee (Buddy) Bryant, both of Memphis,TN; Mima Sue Pipkins of Southaven MS; and Tommy E. Bryant of Ripley, MS.  Millie took the most pride in helping to raise her 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, all while helping to run McHann Metal Building.
