Minnie was ahead of her time in many ways. She was breaking glass ceilings before most even realized they existed. She balanced raising a family and having a career at a time when that was not the norm. After marrying Tom in 1949 and bringing three beautiful daughters into the world, Minnie attended Draughons Business College in Memphis, Tennessee. After finishing her secretarial skills studies, she went to work for American Claim Service for many years followed being the bookkeeper at Nurre Glass until she retired. Even though she was always busy with her work, she still found time to make clothes for her daughters and was quite an accomplished seamstress. She later became an avid decorative arts painter, and her painting club exhibited their collective works at various shows around the mid-south.

Minnie was active with Eastern Stars for many years and served in various leadership roles including Grand Worthy Matron 1980-1981.

She was as an intelligent, independent, confident woman, and yes, just a bit stubborn when she felt it warranted. Her family often joked that it was "her way the easy way or her way the hard way" with the only difference being how quickly you accepted she was right. She had an uncanny knack for always being right. She definitely lived life on her own terms but never at the expense of her family. She was always available whenever any of her family or friends needed an advocate.

Minnie was the matriarch of our family and is irreplaceable. We will always miss her but we take comfort in knowing her legacy lives on in each of us.
