Minor F. Smith, Jr., a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Sanctuary Hospice House, Tupelo, MS surrounded by his loving family.

The son of Minor F. Smith, Sr., and Bennie Bell Jaco Smith, Minor was born August 30, 1923 in Memphis and attended school in Lake Cormorant.  He served in the United States Army in the 1935th Engineers Aviation Utility Company.  Minor valued his service highly and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.  As part of his service, he served in World War II and received the EAMETO Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.  He received an honorable discharge December 13, 1945.

Minor is preceded in death by the love of his life, Louise C. Smith, his parents and three siblings.  Minor is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Brewington(James) of Southaven, MS; a son, Terry Smith(Jana) of Counce, TN, a son, John Smith(Dianne) of Owasso, OK.   He also leaves one surviving sister, Marion Wilson of Homewood, AL, five grandchildren; Michelle Jenkins, Timothy Smith, Ann Louise Lowry, Emily Thrasher, and Justin Smith; eight great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather in honor of his life 10:00 am-11:00 am, Thursday, July 22, 2021 followed by services at 11:00 am, both at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park-Midtown.
