Obituary

Myra Juanita Childs Mitcham Brown passed away December 26, 2021 at Quail Ridge Memory Care in Bartlett, Tennessee.  She was 95 years old.  Myra was born in Banks, Arkansas to Omer Watt Childs and Murlie Marie Smith Childs and had 2 brothers, Harold Dane Childs and Omer Tracy Childs. She graduated from Little Rock Central High School and married Tyler Mitcham, a photographer.  Tyler died a few years later and Myra raised their two children, Larry and Patty, as a single parent.  Larry remembers Mom's working tirelessly, often working late into the night retouching negatives and later keeping books for her father-in-law's veterinary practice.   Myra put her children first and did not remarry until both children had married.  Myra met her second husband, Robert P Brown (Bob) in Little Rock. They were married in 1969 and moved to Florida where Bob, as a corrosion engineer, worked in the construction of the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral and later on multiple bridge projects.  In 2005, they moved to Tennessee to be nearer family.  She is survived by 2 children Larry Dane Mitcham (Sharon) of Belton, Texas and Patricia Ann Claiborne (Charles) of Bartlett, TN.; 3 grandchildren John Claiborne (Danya) of Peachtree City, GA, Sara Govener (Michael) of Olive Branch, MS, and Rachel Claiborne of Memphis, TN, and 3 great grandchildren Caleb, Hannah, and Rebekah.

Myra enjoyed bowling, playing in many leagues and competing in numerous tournaments.  She also enjoyed sewing and quilting and was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Forest Hill East Funeral Home will manage her interment.
