Obituary

Nancy Brooks Duke passed away peacefully in Methodist Residence Hospice on August 23, 2018 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, David Herschel Duke, her parents James Howard and Madge Brooks, and her nephew Jamin Darek Fleming.
Nancy is survived by her three children, Amy Duke Bannerman (Dana), Micah Zane Duke, and David Slade Duke; her grandchildren, Brooks and Brinley Bannerma; her sister, Beverly Brooks Fleming; and nephews, David Scott Fleming (Kim) and Jarred Brooks Pittman (Shannon).
Nancy was born and raised in Memphis where she graduated from Kingsbury High School (1968) and University of Memphis with a bachelor's degree in early education (1972) and later a master's degree in education (1992) She worked as a second grade teacher at Cromwell Elementary for 32 years - all of which were spent in the same classroom. Over those 32 years, she served as a dedicated mentor and advocate to countless students and teachers. She shared mutual adoration for her two grand babies, Brooks and Brinley, that affectionately called her their Antz.
The family will celebrate her life with a Memorial Service Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 5-7pm at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park - East, 2240 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN  38133
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be made to Methodist Residence Hospice in Memphis, TN.
