Nancy Gay Smith Blair passed away peacefully at the age of 80 years old on May 31, 2013, with her two daughters by her side. Nancy was born in Coxville, Tennessee, to Geraldine and Jim Smith but later moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she attended Bellevue Jr. High and Central High School. She was a cheerleader at both schools and a member of Delta Alpha Delta Sorority. Nancy met the love of her life, Sam Berry Blair, when she was working for International Harvester. Nancy was the proud mother of three children, Becky Lloyd (Larry), Sam Berry Blair, Jr. (Pam), and Teresa Gay Blair. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Leah Lloyd Hillis (Josh), Lydia Lloyd Berryman (Brian), Charis Lloyd Ellington (Doug), Hannah Lloyd, Blair Jacobs (Allison), and Lauren White and her 5 great-grandchildren: Ethan, Rebecca, Briley, Sophie, and Abigail. Known as "HONEY" to her grandchildren, Nancy loved to take her grandchildren to play tennis. She and her long time tennis partner, Dottie Barry, played in many tournaments together. Nancy worked in the library at Memphis University School for many years and retired at St. Mary''s Library in 1998. Her parents, her brother Carney Smith, and her husband predeceased her. Nancy is survived by one sister, Geraldine (Cissy) Greer, who resides in South Dakota. There will be a memorial service at Hope Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be sent to Memphis Leadership Foundation in her honor.
