On Monday, December 9 th , 2019, Nancy Curtis Thomas entered into rest at the age of sixty in Memphis, TN. Nancy was born on November 3 rd , 1959 in Hackensack, NJ to Claude and Sammie (Emmons) Curtis. After finishing top of her class at Methodist Hospital School of Nursing she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's in Nursing and pursued her master's degree work at the University of Memphis. Nancy was wholehearted in her practice as a critical care nurse for twenty-seven years. She was a devoted wife to Dr. Don Thomas for twenty-two years and a loving mother to her two children. Nancy was an advocate for women's rights, the family historian and a cancer research philanthropist. She was always strong in her faith and found great joy in being a preacher's wife. When at home she could be found enjoying her opera, baking, reading and doing puzzles. Nancy had a fondness for travel, especially long car trips to see her family. As a loving Nana, she was present for every birthday and Christmas with her grandchildren. As a trained storm spotter, she never missed a chance to visit the coast with her sisters during storm season. She was preceded in death by her father, Claude, and mother, Sammie. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Don Thomas, her two children, Teresa (Garry) Condrey, and John (Maritza) Sowell, her four grandchildren, Nicole, Garry, Isla and Nina, Her three sisters, Claudia (John) Sadrack, Mary (Charles) Douglass, and Linda (Kenneth) Park as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The following services will be held at Germantown Cumberland Presbyterian Church on 2385 Riverdale Rd Germantown, TN 38138. The family will receive visitors Thursday, December 12 th from 5:30-8:30 pm. Visitation will be held Friday, December 13 th at 5pm with the funeral to follow at 6pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be may to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
