Obituary

Nathaniel Berkley was born May 14, 1939, in Memphis, TN, to the late King Akers Berkley Sr. and Stella Gipson Berkley. Nathaniel accepted Christ early and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1957. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the Male chorus and May Birthday Club until his health began to fail.

For 33 years, Nathaniel worked for Motion Pictures Laboratories, where he retired.

On April 26, 1958, he married Alberta Henrietta Branch, and in this union, two daughters were born.

Nathaniel entered his eternal resting place on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at 12:45am at his home, surrounded by his wife, son, and daughters.

Nathaniel leaves beautiful memories to be cherished by his son, Torris Pulliam (Vickie), two daughters, Kim Berkley Simmons (Antonio) and Natalie Berkley Brown (Larry), one granddaughter, Gabrielle Devone Simmons, one grandson, Terrence Pulliam, two great-grandchildren, Ariel Pulliam and Tyler Pulliam, one sister Kala F. Chism (Paul), two sister-in-laws, Marie Berkley and Elizabeth Branch, a goddaughter, Terrilyn Smith along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Nathaniel was preceded in death by his brothers, King Akers Berkley Jr. and Leon Berkley, his sister, Cora Lee Berkley Cooperwood, and his granddaughter, Terlyn Pulliam.
