Nela Mae Phillips, 93, of Memphis, passed away on November 29, 2012. She was a homemaker, kindergarten teacher, Navy veteran and also a member of the Lutheran Church. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Orville K. Phillps. She is survived by her four children, Kenneth Phillips, Phyllis Mashburn, Alisa Bailey, Mark Phillips; sister, Ila Davis; ten grandchildren, Dean Phillips, Rachael Phillips, Melissa Mashburn, Leah Markham, Kimberly Mashburn, Lindsey Bailey, Austin Bailey, Mark B. Phillips, Katie Phillips, Scott Phillips; and five great-grandchildren, C.J. Phillips, Savannah Markham, Aislinn Parker, Riley Markham and Alex Wiley. Visitation will be 12 noon until the service begins at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home with interment following. The family request any donations be made to St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital.
