Nell Thompson Goshorn, 97, a resident of Kirby Pines in Memphis died on January 18, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Oliver Goshorn, Jr. She is survived by her son, James Oliver Goshorn lll and his wife Jennie; her daughter Patricia G. Ball and her husband C. Jordan Ball, Jr.; two granddaughters, Claire Little and Kate Goshorn; three grandsons, C. Jordan Ball lll, James C. Ball, and B. Thompson Ball, as well as three great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons. Mrs. Goshorn graduated from Southwestern (now Rhodes) in 1938 where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta, S.T.A.B., and an active member of the Drama Club. She was a member of Whitehaven Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Nell loved working in her yard and playing bridge. She was active in the Kennedy Book Club in Whitehaven and the Women's Exchange of Memphis. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 20 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Kirby Pines, 3535 Kirby Rd., Memphis. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of choice .
