Hernando - Nicholas John Babich, 89, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at his home in Hernando. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 15 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Babich is a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII and met and married his wife of 62 years, Mary Irene Babich. During his career he was an accountant for Massey Fergerson. After he retired he worked for the Defense Depot for 9 years. Nick was a past member of St. Paul Catholic Church, a member of Council 5062 Knights of Columbus and was a 4th Degree Knight, serving in many areas. He also was a member of Schola choir. Nick is preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Anthony Babich. He leaves behind his wife, Mary; two sons, Michael Babich (Elizabeth) and Anthony Babich, both of Hernando; two grandsons, John Babich of Millington, TN and Michael Babich II of Memphis; two step-grandsons, Joseph H. and James Crossman; two great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law Frank and Margaret Wilder of Hernando; sister-in-law, Louise Cavallo of Memphis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
