Nolen Eugene Hoskins, 83 of Memphis died Friday, May 16, 2014 at home. He was born in Bassett, AR on September 23, 1930. He leaves his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley Hoskins; his 4 children, Sheila Ross (Mark), Danny Hoskins, Eddie Hoskins, Shelley Towery (Martin); 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers and 4 sisters; a host of nephews and nieces; and many dear friends. He served his country from January 1955 through December 1956 in the US Army stationed in Germany. Nolen was a devoted union member of the International Association of Iron Workers Local 167 for 56 years. He retired in 1992 to fulfill his and Shirley's dream of traveling the country in their second home, a 36 foot Bounder RV. A celebration of his life will be held at Forest Hill East located at 2440 Whitten Rd. in Memphis on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 with a visitation at noon followed by a service at 2 pm with burial immediately following. Nolen was bigger than life, a friend to all, and adored by his family. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Surely he is enjoying a long bike ride on streets of gold and snacking on an endless supply of popcorn!
