Mrs. Norene Mayes Russell, 92 of Memphis, Tennessee, departed on January 3, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Russell was born in Pleasant Ridge, Mississippi, on July 26, 1930.

She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, Herbert Windham Russell, and her parents, William Randolph Mayes and Leona Snyder Mayes of New Albany, Mississippi. Mrs. Russell is survived by her daughter, Nelda Diane Russell of Houston, Texas, brother-in-law, Jack Lester Madden of Hendersonville, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Russell was a member of West Frayser Baptist Church, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and working crossword puzzles. She was a long-time employee of the City of Memphis Board of Education and retired from Frayser High School. In the later years of her life, Mrs. Russell was dedicated
to the care of her husband until his death in 2019.

Visitation will be from 9:00am-10:00am and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on January 10, 2023 at Forest Hill East Mausoleum, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, Tennessee 38133
