Obituary

Norman S. Thompson, 89, retired pharmacist, formerly of Memphis and Olive Branch, Mississippi, died on January 24, at Germantown Methodist Hospital. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 28 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Thompson was a World War II veteran, a shining exemplar of the Greatest Generation, and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a graduate of Humes High School and the University of Mississippi. He was a member of Masonic Woodlawn Lodge No. 211, the Scottish Rite and Al Chymia Temple. Mr. Thompson, the widower of Elizabeth H. Thompson, leaves two sons, Norman S. Thompson, Jr. (Carole) and Dr. Terry L. Thompson (Greta), both of Memphis, three granddaughters, and two great-grandsons. Mr. Thompson had requested that in lieu of flowers any memorials be sent to Maples Memorial United Methodist Church in Olive Branch.
