It is with great sadness that the family of Ophelia Eveline Parrish, 89, of Memphis, announce her passing on January 9, 2017. She was born November 30, 1927 in Forrest City, Arkansas. She later moved to Memphis where she resided most of her life. She is survived by her children, Brenda Wynn (Chuck), Larry Parrish (Karen), Michael Parrish, Jean Pennington (Willie), and John Parrish; her brother, Ernest Hughes (Jesse); grandchildren, Chuck Wynn, Scott Wynn, Jill Adney (Dane), Chris Parrish (Lexie), Jaime Byrd (Chris), Candi Mitchell (Joey), Matt Parrish; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Hughes and Carrie Clay; and siblings, Bill Swindle, Raymond Hughes, Bennie Hughes, James Hughes, Irene Howerington, Marvin Thigpin, and Richard Thigpin. Ophelia will be lovingly remembered for her strong will, feisty spirit and big heart. She was a great cook with homemade biscuits and molasses being a favorite among her grandkids. She loved spending time with her family and never missed an opportunity to "Head South". She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A private family service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, East, 2440 Whitten Road. Interment will immediately follow at Memory Hill Gardens on Germantown Parkway.
