Ouida Bailey Branch, 92 of Memphis,TN was born August 18, 1928 to Charlie and Mary Bailey in Ida,La., and passed away May 27, 2021. She was the youngest of ten children and at just 16yrs old, moved to Memphis with her closest sister, Ilene. Ouida adjusted well to the life of a big city and found a job wrapping cellophane at the Southern Central Paper Company factory during WWII. Shortly there after, Ouida was set up on a blind date with a charismatic, young man named Leslie Lee Branch. It was love at first sight for Leslie and within months proposed but was quickly turned down by 17yr old Ouida. Eventually, after multiple failed attempts, Ouida finally gave in and married Leslie Lee Branch on Aug.2, 1947. Although complete opposites, Leslie and Ouida loved each other deeply and together they raised two children, Deborah Bagwell and Matthew Branch. Ouida was preceded in death by her husband Leslie and daughter Deborah. Ouida is survived by her son-in-law, Wayne Bagwell and five grandchildren; Elizabeth Luster and Brandon Bagwell of Bartlett. Mikey, Jodie, and Matthew Branch of Memphis. Nana was loved by her great grandchildren Alexus, Lucas and Nicholas Luster and one greatgreat grandson, George Alexander Luster. Ouida, "Aunt Bob", was adored by a slew of nieces and nephews for her laughter and life stories she shared. Ouida was a lifetime member of Grimes Methodist Church in Memphis. A private family graveside service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, in Memphis.
