Owen Harvey "Poppy" Vance, Sr., 89, of Cordova, TN, went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2018, surrounded by his family, after a short illness.  Owen was born on March 25, 1928 in Dyersburg, TN to Ezra and Edna Vance.  He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and worked for Guardian Moving Systems.  Owen was a gifted musician, an avid fisherman, and a member of First Assembly of God Church in Cordova, teaching Sunday School for over 40 years.

Owen leaves his wife of 60 years, Marie Newcomb Vance; his daughter Ellen Vance DiGirolamo; and son Owen Harvey Vance, Jr.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jane Vance Moon; brothers, Ezra Oliver Vance and Russell W. Vance.  He also leaves behind his five grandchildren:  Alayna DiGirolamo White, Christina Leigh DiGirolamo, Joshua Owen Vance, Alexandra (Ali) Rose DiGirolamo, and Olivia Marie Vance; and 3 Great Grand Children:  Jeremiah David White, Owen Wyatt Vance, and Anniston Presley Vance.

Visitation will be Friday, January 26, 2018 from 4:30 pm to 7:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 8650 Walnut Grove Road, Cordova, TN  38018.  Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at the church, with visitation one hour prior to service.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the two ministries that Owen loved: International Chi Alpha or First Assembly Christian School. You may designate which ministry and mail checks to First Assembly of God, 8650 Walnut Grove, Cordova, TN 38018.
