DR PAMELA OLIVER PHILLIPS, 54, died June 12, 2013 at her home with her family and friends by her side after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. Pam was a loving and beloved mother and wife. She attended Bishop Byrne High School (77), Christian Brothers University, and received her PharmD from the University of Tennessee in 1982. She served as the President of the Academy of Student Pharmacists from 1980 to 1982 and was a celebrated member of the professional pharmacist community to the very end, receiving among numerous other awards the Tennessee Pharmacists Association (TPA) Distinguished Young Pharmacist in 1988, Innovative Health-System Pharmacy Practice Award in 2000 while she was Director of Pharmacy, the 2012 UT College of Pharmacy Alumnus of the Year, and the 2013 TPA Public Service Lifetime Achievement Award. She was also the 2011-2012 President of the UT College of Pharmacy Alumni Board of Directors as well as a founding member and two-time President of the Memphis Area Pharmacists Society. She is survived by her husband Steve, son Colin, and many more who knew and loved her. Visitation will be Sunday, June 16 from 4-9 p.m. at Forest Hill Funeral Home, 2440 Whitten Road and funeral service Monday, June 17 at 1 p.m. at the Wilson Chapel, Christ United Methodist Church. Burial following at Forest Hill East. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be directed to the UT College of Pharmacy to fund the Pam Oliver Phillips Scholarship Endowment.
