Pasquealeen Maxwell Crum was born to Arthur Adkins Maxwell and Annie Josie Reed Maxwell in Henderson County, TN on February 28, 1917 (or 1918; there has been debate about this for years!). On Monday, April 1, 2019, she passed away peacefully at the age of 102, surrounded by her daughter Kathy, best friend, Robyn, and the hospice chaplain. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 58 years, James Woody (J. W.) Crum; her parents; all her siblings; her son, W. A. (Dub) Crum; and her granddaughter, Heather Christine Hawk. She is survived by her children, Jimmie and Thelma Crum (Michelle and Lars), Betty Alcanter (Kirk and Irene, Kreg, Karen, Kim and Billy), Bobby and Jo Ellen Crum (Patti and Ramsey), Dub's wife, Joan Crum (Kelly and Mitchell), Gerald and Judy Crum (Kevin and Rebecca, Leslie Ann, Mitch), Johnny Crum (Stephanie and Ryan), Kathy and Pete Bartosch (Amanda and Shannon, Aaron and Emily), Diane and Gary Reid (Josh and Rebecca, Amber), and numerous nieces and nephews , great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Pasquealeen's favorite thing in life was her family. She found so much joy in caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends. She was always ready to feed anyone who came over, and loved to entertain company. Her other passions in life were Jesus, going to church, singing, gardening, and tending to her chickens. She was dedicated to teaching Sunday school for over 65 years, and faithfully supported Mid-South Christian College. She and J.W. were also instrumental in helping start several new churches in the Mid-South area. With more and more grandchildren, she adopted the moniker, Nan. She embraced that name and subsequently was Nan to mostly everyone she met. She adopted people into her fold almost instantly, and loved all the extra family she was constantly meeting. She always had enough love to add one more to the list of people she cared about. She met a new nurse the Saturday before she passed away, and even then needed to hug her and to tell her she loved her. She was a joy to everyone who met her and she will be greatly missed. She loved everyone "a bushel and a peck, and would give a hug around the neck, all day long"!! Friends will be received at East Win Christian Church, 4350 Hacks Cross Road in Memphis, Tennessee on Monday, April 8, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the Service of Celebration for her life and certainly her legacy. Committal Services will follow at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park - East, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, Tennessee.
