Patricia Adkins Hill, 80, of Gallatin, TN formerly of Memphis, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 in Gallatin. She was a retired elementary and junior high school teacher who taught in Milan, TN, Waverly, TN and Memphis, TN school systems. Mrs. Hill attended David Lipscomb College and the University of Memphis, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and eventually met her husband, and proudly graduated from Bethel University with a degree in Education. In 1993 she retired from teaching in Memphis after a 30 year career. She was a Christian who was born and raised in the Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend who was extremely kind, generous, empathetic and most importantly, a patient and passionate teacher and educator. Those qualities served her well as a parent, guardian and an educator in Tennessee schools and as a Sunday School teacher. She is survived by her sons, George A. "Buddy" Hill of Gallatin, TN and J. Michael "Mike" Hill of Knoxville, TN; brother, James R. Adkins, of Memphis; and four grandchildren she loved and adored, Grace C. Hallock of Nashville, TN, George "Will" Hill of Chattanooga, TN Katie Hill of Atlanta, GA and Didi Hill of Gallatin, TN. Visitation for friends and family will be 12-2 P.M., Friday, June 29, 2012 followed by her memorial service at 2 P.M. all at Forest Hill East Funeral Home. A private interment will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the charity or charities of the donor's choice.
