IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Anne
Young
February 25, 1935 – March 7, 2024
Patricia Anne Young, born 25 February 1935, passed away unexpectedly on 7 March 2024 in Memphis, Tennessee from a sudden Illness.
She was born in Fort Worth, TX to James Louis and Mary Jeanette Whitmire, the oldest of two girls. She attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana where she studied music, majoring in organ. It was during this time she met and married her husband, Carl Everett Young on August 15, 1955. They had three children, Karen Arriaga of Lakeland, TN, David Carl Young of Terrell, TX, and Deborah Young-Perry of Dublin, CA.
Patricia and her husband traveled the world during his career in the Air Force, retiring to live in Pineville, LA and then Harrison, AR. She moved to Memphis in 2008 and was a member of Bartlett Baptist Church.
She enjoyed riding through the Ozarks of Arkansas on her Honda Silverwing motorcycle alongside her husband's Goldwing. They took many motorcycle trips, culminating in a 33-day trek across the southern and western US up into Canada, across southern Canada and the eastern coast of the US before returning to Arkansas. She was a longtime church pianist and organist, enjoyed waterskiing, traveling, and reading her Bible along with many other books. Her travels included living in Japan for several years, and visiting Thailand and Hong Kong. In more recent times she enjoyed traveling with her Bartlett Baptist and Bartlett United Methodist friends to many destinations. She made several trips to the Holy Land, cruised the Mediterranean and loved spending time in the Greek Isles. She enjoyed traveling the waterways of Europe, and especially enjoyed her 50th Anniversary cruise to Alaska taken with all of her children and their spouses. She always said the best part of traveling wasn't the destinations, but the companionship. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She supported many charities including the Gideons, Lottie Moon Christmas offerings, Kingdom Builders, and Tennessee Disaster Relief.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her younger sister, Marilyn Love of Greenville, NC, as well as her loving husband of 52 years.
She is survived by her children Karen Arriaga (Isaias), David Carl Young (Virginia), and Deborah Young-Perry (Scott Perry), grandchildren Marisa DeHaan, Sylvia Brady, David Paul Young, Stacey Mitchell, Emily Allison Perry, and great-grandchildren Olivia Madison DeHaan, Michael Isaias DeHaan, Charles Anthony Brady, Emma Claire Brady, Annalise Young, Genevieve Young, Nash Young, and Jamison Young.
Visitation will be held on 15 March 2024 at 10:30 AM at Bartlett Baptist Church, 3465 Kirby Whitten Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38135 with a brief Memorial service to follow at 11 AM.
