Obituary

Patty Lou Crowell Davis, age 89, resident of Memphis, Tn and wife of the late Albert Davis, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2022.  Patty was born on December 10, 1932 in Morris Chapel, TN, the daughter of the late Homer and Artie Crowell, they were farmers.  She received her education from the schools in Morris Chapel and later at Memphis Area Vocational Technical School.

When she moved to Memphis, she was employed by the Bellsouth Telephone Company as a Switchboard operator.  On July 8, 1961 she married Albert Davis and a few years later became a home maker raising her sons.  When her sons got older, she went to work for Sears for 19 years as a Routing clerk.  During retirement her interest in crafts increased and she attended Gaisman Community Center craft activities.

Patty enjoyed spending time with family and friends of Memphis and Morris Chapel (she lived in the same house in Memphis for 57 years and spent a lot of time in the house where she was raised in at Morris Chapel).  Daily Walks, Gardening, Crocheting, Crafts, watching Bill Gaither on TV, participating in Class reunions/Sears retirees' luncheons and the Bellevue Singing Christmas Tree were some of her favorite activities.   Reading the Bible or Savannah Courier newspaper with her four-legged family members was a daily hobby.  Attending her sons' and granddaughter's athletic/school/church events were some of her favorite pastimes.   She was a long-time member of Leawood Baptist Church serving in the In Reach / Outreach ministry of the Sunday School class.  She adored Hymns such as Amazing Grace, Because He Lives and When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder.  When it came to the past, reminiscing about riding with her grandfather in his wagon being pulled by 2 mules was always an event she liked to relive.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Albert (Marilyn) of Collierville, Brett (Stephanie) of Cordova, Granddaughter Leah and four-legged friends Luke, Princess and Mia. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Paul Crowell.

Funeral services and Interment will be on Aug 22, 2022 at 10 am at Forest Hill, 2440 Whitten Rd.  The officiating minister will be Dr Floyd Paris.  The family requests that memorials be sent to Leawood Baptist Church, 3638 Macon Rd, Memphis, Tn 38122.

We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our appreciation to the caregivers from Gardens of Germantown and NHC in Somerville for the wonderful care and love they demonstrated to our mother.
