Pattye Jean Watson, age 88, passed away on April 14, 2019 at Life Pointe Village in Southaven, Mississippi. She was born on October 10, 1930 in Cherry Valley, Arkansas, to John and Lois Walker. She was the oldest of six girls, and spent her early years on a farm on Crowley's Ridge in Arkansas. She moved away from the homestead to live in Memphis, Tennessee and met her husband, Audrey Polk Watson, from Mississippi. After a short stint living in Cherry Point, North Carolina while Audrey was in the Marines, they returned to Memphis.They had three children: Dennis in 1956, Cheryl in 1960, and Gene in 1965. Pattye worked with the U.S. Corps of Engineers in Memphis for many years until she retired on disability and decided to stay at home to care for the children.They lived in Frayser from 1957 until 1978, when she moved with her family to East Memphis. She loved to garden, trying her hand at various types of crafts, and collecting many different ceramic statues (flowers, birds, and dolls). She also loved to read for many years. She leaves her three children, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She also has three sisters still living in Arkansas and Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sisters. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until her funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow, all at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park - East 2440 Whitten Road.
