Obituary

Peggy Louise Hooten, 84, of Germantown, TN, passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, April 18, 2021. She was born in Cockrum, MS and lived most of her life in Memphis, TN. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Helen Langston, nine siblings and her granddaughter, Rachel Hooten. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gordon Hooten, her sister, Annie Mae Maclin, her children, Terri Bader and husband Eric, Steve Hooten and wife Hilda, Mark Hooten and wife Lisa, Matthew Hooten and wife Tracy, and her grandchildren Emily Hooten, Samuel Hooten and Sarah Hooten.
For over 40 years Peggy was a loyal parishioner at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Memphis and for the past 13 years attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Germantown. A selfless and generous woman, Peggy was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Rest In Peace, Momma, you are in the arms of your Creator.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Memphis. A private graveside service for the family will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 3700 Thomas St., Memphis, TN 38127.
