Ray Eugene Heath, Sr. born on November 18, 1933, in the Township of St. James, Missouri. Passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 4th, with family by his side. Ray served his country as a member of the US Army Reserves .
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Lemuel Richard Heath, his mother Selma Frances Elam, his son, Ray Eugene Heath, Jr. and his two brothers and three sisters.
Ray leaves behind his bride and sweetheart, Eva Sue (Wilbanks) Heath, married sixty-six years, and son, Alan Douglass Heath (Tina), grandchildren, Christine Heath Essary (Robert), Jason Eugene Heath, Amanda Cockrum (James), Brian Douglas Heath (Chelsee), and Robert (Bobby) Alan Heath. Great-grandchildren Alicia Essary Herbert (David), Christopher Daniel Miller, Caleb Ray Heath, Connor Joseph Heath, Isabella Grace Heath, Zachary Alexander Cockrum, Troy Joseph Heath.
Ray retired from IBM after a thirty-year career as a manager and subsequently worked with the Memphis Urban League as a technical instructor. He was an active volunteer in his community and served as a long-time deacon, sang in the choir, and was a faithful member at Bartlett Hills Baptist Church formerly Raleigh Baptist Church.
Memorials can be made in honor of Ray Heath to Bartlett Hills Baptist Church and the American Stroke Association in lieu of flowers.
Public visitation will be held at Forest Hill Home & Memorial Park East, 2440 Whitten Rd., Memphis, Tennessee, Tuesday, November 10th between 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
