Rebecca Joyce Ortiz, 68 of Memphis, passed away June 2, 2023.

She is survived by her husband, Gerardo Ortiz; one daughter, Natasha Ruiz; sister, Linda Hughes; grandchildren, Christian Churchill (Trey), Dustin Barber (Haley), Destiny Carter (Tyler Smith), and Jacob Lively; and great grandchildren, Lucas Churchill, Broden Barber, Teddy Churchill, Carson Carter, Hazel Barber, Everett Carter, Beau Lively, Windham Churchill, and Lizzie Beth Barber.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Shannon Barber; her parents, Bobby Hughes and Maxine Cates; and three brothers, Larry Hughes, Tommy Hughes, and Bobby Joe Hughes.

Rebecca was a devoted daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a hard working waitress while going to school to be a barber. She continued through the years doing what she loved at not only the Barber Shop, but even at home. Friends & family would always keep her busy with cuts & perms, as she was working hard to support and spoil her daughters. She was such a giver, she would give to anyone in need, both her girls took after her in that way and in so many others. She loved Jesus, church, and reading her Bible. Rebecca really loved to sing and dance anytime she had a chance. She absolutely loved dancing with her husband. She was not scared of anything. She spoke her mind until her last breath, and she would always keep you laughing. Rebecca loved to travel all her years. She loved going out to eat and spending time with her family, that always put the biggest smile on her face. Her grandchildren were her pride & joy. No matter the occasion, she made sure to always show up for them. She was a strong woman, and she pushed until the end. She loved her sister dearly, she was right by her side always. Most of all, missing her daughter in heaven these last several years. Last but not least, her favorite "let's roll one."
