REUBEN LEE "RL" BRUNSON II, 78, of Collierville, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014. RL is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mimi. Together they have three sons, Bob (Vickie), Reuben (Lori) and Ken (Ann). They have 10 grandchildren, Scott, Kimberly, Michael, Emily, Taylor, Piper, Willow, Chloe, Ruby and Abby. RL was born on June 22, 1935 in Cascilla, Mississippi. He was blessed to be the oldest of three brothers, two sisters, a stepsister, a stepbrother and five half brothers and sisters. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961 and was stationed in Germany. He worked for Haygood, Inc. for almost 30 years as a service manager and most recently retired from the City of Memphis after 19 years of service as a heavy equipment mechanic in the Public Works Division. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. RL was also well known for his artistic nature and patient soul as best shown through his whittling skills. Often it has been remarked that you knew RL had been somewhere by the piles of shavings he left behind. Many people have remarked that RL was the best man they have ever had the pleasure to know and that he truly was the measure of a man. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Cancer Society . Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, February 27 and Service will be 2 p.m., Friday, February 28 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home with interment following.
