Reverend Gordon H. Sather, 90, born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at home. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army. He served in the ministry for 38 years before his retirement. He ministered last at Blue Ridge Baptist Church, 2013 Bartlett Road in Memphis. Other churches where he ministered were First Baptist, Litchfield, KY, First Baptist, Sudbury, MA, Salem and Chapel Hill Baptist near Utica, MS. Rev. Sather graduated from Mississippi College and received a Bachelor of Divinity Degree and a Master''s in Religion Education from Southwestern Baptist Seminary. He was President of the Ministerial Association at Mississippi College. Rev. Sather was known as a very caring, always thankful person, and loved God first. His hobbies included a collection of stamps and coins and listening to sermons by Ministers of God. He was a member of Redeemer Evangelical church prior to his becoming ill. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Frances McNeelis Sather, having just celebrated their 21st anniversary on April 8, 2015. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 15 from 5-7 p.m. and a funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, all at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park on Whitten Road. Interment will follow service.
