Obituary

Richard Warren Eldred

March 31, 1963 - November 3, 2026

Richard Warren Eldred, affectionately known as "Warren" to his family and "Fonz" to his racing family, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026, at the age of 63, in his home surrounded by family.

Born March 31, 1963, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Benny and Edna Eldred, Warren was preceded in death by his father, Benny Eldred.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Eldred; his mother, Edna Eldred; brothers, Ben Eldred (Tammy) and Keith Eldred (Samantha); and sister, LeTicia Eldred (Donald).

He also leaves behind Lisa's children and grandchildren: Dale and Tricia Wright, Robert Sisk, McKayla Sisk, and Isabella Wright; Sarah and Craig Schuster, Jordan Lunsford, and fiancée Mackenzie Collins; and Patrick and Jill Wright, Olivia Wright, Savannah Wright, and Oliver Wright. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Warren began working while still in high school at Hancock Fabrics and later worked alongside his father at Eldred's Garage. He eventually built a career as an X-ray maintenance technician, putting his natural mechanical abilities to good use.

Warren had a competitive spirit from an early age. As a teenager, he was an accomplished boxer, earning both Golden Gloves and AAU jackets. His younger brother Keith followed in his footsteps in the boxing ring.

Warren had a lifelong passion for anything that went fast. His racing journey began in high school with a 1965 Mustang Drag way before he discovered his true love-motorcycle drag racing.

He shared his passion for drag racing with his brother Ben and his dad competing alongside them and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Known throughout the racing community as "Fonz, Warren became a familiar and beloved figure aboard his legendary motorcycle, "Pinky." Among his proudest racing accomplishments were winning two coveted Wally trophies, a prestigious achievement in the sport of drag racing.

Warren's impact on racing went far beyond his own accomplishments. He introduced countless people to the sport, taught others how to race, and generously shared his mechanical knowledge to help fellow riders with their bikes. As part of Doghouse Racing, he built lasting friendships with people who became like family. His willingness to help others succeed will remain an important part of his legacy.

Warren met the love of his life, Lisa, in 2012, and they married in 2017. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and companionship. He was a patient, kind, and devoted husband, son, and brother whose quiet strength and gentle nature touched those around him.

Warren lived with a passion for speed and competition, but it was his kindness, generosity, and love for others that truly defined him.

The engines may grow quiet, but the legend of Fonz and Pinky will ride on. Every time a racer he mentored takes the starting line, a little piece of Warren will be there.

Warren will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
