Richard "Rick" Allen Sowards
December 26, 1945 - May 4, 2017

Rick was the son of Clarence E. Sowards and the late Phyllis Mae Sowards. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diane; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Denise Sowards; daughter and son-in-law, Kellie and Corey Doyle; one granddaughter, Megan Rose Sowards; and his sister, Gaila Limeberry.

He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, where he served two tours in the Vietnam War and received numerous medals of honor and valor. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Bartlett Senior Golf League.

Rick was retired from Pi Kappa Alpha Memorial Headquarters and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Delta Zeta Chapter.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather "Poppy". He cherished spending time with his family and golfing with his friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m.
