Richard David Roleson passed away at the age of 77 on November 8, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his wife Renee Roleson, and parents, Melrine and Richard Y. Roleson

He is survived by his children: Ricky (Visna) Roleson and Amy (Allen) Redmond; his brother: James (Donna) Roleson; his grandchildren: Alaster Redmond, Alex Roleson, and Lena Roleson; his stepchildren and their families: Stacey Guthrie, April Brown, David Herr, and his step-grandchildren that he raised: Tyler Marshall and Christian Marshall.

He graduated from Kingsbury High School in 1964. He attended Memphis State University and graduated from the Memphis Police Academy in 1970.

He served approximately 16 years in the United States Marine Corp Reserves.

He was a member of the Masons.

He retired from the Memphis Police Department as a Captain in 2003. He was featured on TV shows discussing the cases that he had helped solve: The FBI Files: Death in the Delta (2002), Forensic Files: Skirting the Evidence (2007) and Murder by Morning: Gambling with Death (2020).
