Robert Atkins, JR. passed away in Bartlett, TN on September 5, 2019.  He was born on May 21, 1930, in Hollow Rock, TN to Robert and Clara Mae Atkins both preceded him in death. At the age of 16, he joined the Marines and served his country proudly. Mr. Atkins was a Captain of the Memphis Fire Department for 26 years.  Left to cherish his memory are loving wife of 70 years, Mary Atkins, three sons, Wayne Atkins (Becky), Roger Atkins (his companion, Cecilia), and Larry Atkins (Vicki).  He was blessed with eleven grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Robert was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who always took care of his family.  He will be missed by all of his family and friends.  We are content knowing that he is with his mother, father, sister, and friends who have gone on before him. The family request in lieu of flowers to send any memorials to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.  Visitation with his family will be on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, from 1:00~2:00 pm with his service following at 2:00 pm at Forest Hill Funeral Home, East 901-382-1000
