Robert Leo
Baker
May 20, 1938 — May 13, 2022
Bob Baker, of Lakeland, Tennessee, passed away on May 13, 2022, just seven days away from his 84th birthday. He was born on May 20, 1938 to Emmette and Eula May Baker in Water Valley, Mississippi.
He was an amazing husband and father to "his girls", and was so proud of his grandkids and sons-in-law. Not only did he love his family and friends, but also Jesus, Memphis Tigers, playing golf, working in his yard, and keeping up with all things political. He enjoyed spending time at Advent, volunteering with the Youth Club and VBS.
In his younger years, he lead several different Whitehaven High School sports teams to victory, and made the All-County football team in 1956. Bob was honored to serve as an airplane radio mechanic for 6 years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He was hard-working, building two of his own homes himself! He retired from National Drywall Incorporated. He also donated his construction talents to helping many people, and also projects at his church. He was very proud of his work on the Memphis Zoo, the dome in St. Jude Hospital, and the Memphis Pyramid.
Bob is survived by his wife of over 50 years Judy Baker, his daughters Tracy Wolfe (Doug) and Cheri Wooster (Brent), and two grandchildren, Grant James and Bella Wooster. He was the second oldest of his siblings; Bill Baker of Rosemark, Tennessee (deceased), Pat Chatwin of Memphis Tennessee, Ronny Baker of Hernando, Mississippi and Glenn Baker of Memphis Tennessee (deceased). He also leaves behind several nephews, nieces, and a large extended family.
He will be loved and missed everyday until we are together again in heaven!
Please send flowers to the church.
