Obituary

Olive Branch - Robert Lee Bogle, 87, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013 in Desoto County, MS. He was born May 15, 1925 in Atwood, TN to Milton and Etta Marshall Bogle. Mr. Bogle is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Berry Bogle; daughters Brenda Surratt-Farley (John) of Cordova, TN, Beverly Jill Brewer (Mark) of Desoto County and son, Richard Lee Bogle of Centerville, TN; grandchildren, Lauren Surratt Galyon (Davis) of Knoxville, TN, Ryan Austin Surratt (Brandyn) of Nashville, Matthew Brewer (Megan), Garrett Brewer (Anna), Landon Brewer (Kasey) all of Desoto County and John North Farley (Abi) of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren. After serving in the Navy in WWII in the Pacific area, he attended and graduated from Union University, Jackson, TN where he was an active member of SAE fraternity. Upon graduation he was recalled to active duty in the Korean War, was commissioned and served aboard the USS Forrest Royal. Mr. Bogle received an honorable discharge as a LT.jg. After serving his country for the third enlistment he returned to Memphis and was in sales with Hubbell Metals, National Steel Co. and was manager of Power Tools Co. until his retirement. Bob was a faithful member of Berclair Baptist Church. He was ordained a deacon at Bartlett Baptist Church and then on to Bellevue Baptist Church, again serving the Lord as a deacon. He moved to Desoto County in 1995 and became an active member of Longview Heights Baptist Church. He loved to visit the hospitals and the homebound as he shared with each one his love of the Lord. Mr. Bogle loved building and working in his garden and sharing his abilities with any who needed his skills. He was a model of faithfulness as he loved his family and his church and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at Longview Heights Baptist Church, 4501 Goodman Rd., Olive Branch, MS. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013 with services to follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill-Irene Rd., Memphis, TN. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Longview Heights Baptist Church or other charities which honor the Lord.
