Robert Wayne Caldwell, 88, of Ecru, MS passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Oxford Health and Rehab of Oxford, MS. Mr. Caldwell was born in Sherman, MS on June 10, 1928. Later he and his wife Barbara Goodman Caldwell moved to Memphis where they raised their two children. After retiring as a welder from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. in Memphis he returned to make his home in Ecru, MS where he enjoyed riding his tractor and working his ponies as long as he was able. He leaves his two children: Connie Caldwell Sparks (John Edwin) and Rex Wayne Caldwell (Deborah); four grandchildren: Michael and Kristin Sparks, Shauna Caldwell Hannaford and Robbie Caldwell; 7 great-grandchildren and many other beloved family members from his brothers and sisters. Robert was preceded in death by his parents: James Pressley "Press" and Mehaley Elizabeth "Betty" Caldwell; three brothers: Horace Caldwell, Frank Caldwell and Dorman Caldwell; four sisters: Lucille Owens, Gladys Winters, Doris Adcock and Francis Pitts. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 3 at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc, MS with service immediately following. Burial will be in Pontotoc Memorial Gardens.
