Obituary

In memory of Mr. Robert "Bob" Junior Cannon, the esteemed "Silver Fox," we pause to reflect on his inspiring journey, which concluded at his home on Sunday, October 15, 2023. At the age of 91, Bob exemplified tenacity and an unyielding spirit. Not only did he leave a deep impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him, but also in the HVAC and land development communities. Following his valiant service in the Korean War, Bob, together with his wife, Louise (dec), ventured from Paragould, AR, to seek new horizons in Memphis, TN.  Armed with an 8th grade education, genuine Southern business values, and a steadfast principle that "If you always do the right thing, there's nothing to apologize for," Bob embarked on an extraordinary journey. It began with the installation of gutters and water heaters, shortly after that, he called his brothers David and the late William to join him, and together they plunged headfirst into the booming construction industry, later becoming pillars in the HVAC world and laying the foundation for the renowned Cannon HVAC dynasty. Each brother pursued individual HVAC ventures and their bond was unbreakable, ensuring that triumphs achieved by one were celebrated by all. They were a force to be reckoned with. Bob's first HVAC project was completed utilizing Fedders equipment in 1963. He went on to establish B&W Air, Inc. in 1987, which was his true pride and joy. Bob stood as a symbol of honesty, always honoring his commitments and placing immense value on verbal agreements. Over the past 60+ years, Bob built his empire on trust, firmly believing in the sanctity of one's word and the power of a simple handshake. He nurtured profound relationships with his valued customers, loyal employees, and reliable subcontractors. For him, customer satisfaction wasn't a business strategy—it was the guiding principle. Bob and Louise's family grew to include Gary Cannon from Horn Lake, MS; Robert "Bubba" Cannon (Sandy) from Hamilton, AL; and Leigh Ann Deming (Jerry) from Southaven, MS. Their circle expanded with four grandchildren—Jeremy Cannon, Kristen Deavers, Kasie Gaston, and Jessica Deming—followed by six great-grandchildren. Bob was blessed to have both of his sons work alongside him in HVAC and his daughter with him in land development. His impeccable work ethic and unwavering integrity were evident up to his retirement from HVAC at 88. Even then, his zest for life and work led him to continue his real estate development, right up to his last day. Throughout his 91 years, Bob lived with passion, wisdom, and zeal. His unwavering faith in God is a testament to a life lived with profound purpose and commitment, ensuring his memory remains eternal in the hearts of all he touched. We leave you with what many of you heard Bob say daily: "Go get 'em" and most importantly, "It's gonna be alright."
