Craig Ii
d. Jan 7, 2021
Robert Charles Craig II, of Germantown, TN, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021.
Bob was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 24, 1940, with his twin sister Carolyn following a few minutes after. Bob was the only son born to Robert Charles Craig and Pauline Miller Craig, and was named Robert Charles Craig II to avoid having a Jr. in the family. Bob was raised in Shawnee Mission, KS and was a graduate of both Shawnee Mission Elementary and Shawnee Mission High School. He was destined to be a KU Jayhawk and graduated from University of Kansas with a Fine Arts degree in Industrial Design. Bob created many patents in die casting design and one for a silver dollar vending machine acceptor. His engineering career spanned many years with him retiring in Memphis, TN after 24 years at Auto-
Chlor
System designing commercial dishwashers for numerous hospitals, schools and restaurants gaining more patents for several water pump designs. His generous spirit will still be felt even after his death from the dish sanitation systems he had installed at his local church, the Methodist Neighborhood Center, and the new one soon to come in the Emmanuel UMC new expansion.
Bob was baptized in the Christian church but grew up in the Methodist church. His love for his Lord was shown by his immersion in church work. From his leadership and participation in many bible studies, church committees, the church choir, vacation bible school, the Sasha Ministries, prayer groups, the
Noiseful
Joys (traveling senior choir to area nursing homes), to counting of the weekly church offering, and maintaining a CDL license to be able to drive the church bus. The Cornerstones group depended on Bob for their trips all over the Mid-South including the Lenten services downtown and driving for Room in the Inn, a ministry for the homeless on weekends. Bob served in the mission field from 2005-2013 traveling to Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine, and Costa Rica, constructing churches, and spreading the word of God.
Bob's dedication was awarded when he was featured in Tennessee Volunteer Heroes 2001 by the Tennessee Council of Community Services and the same year by the City of Memphis for the Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding and Meritorious Contribution to the city. His greatest efforts were spent in Civitan, benefiting those with Developmental Disabilities. During his 20 years in Civitan, Bob raised over $200,000 for challenged children and adults through golf tournaments, 5k runs, product sales and participated in numerous Special Olympics. Bob was an antique auto enthusiast who owned a 1951 Chevy 5 window
step side
