ROBERT EDWARD "BOB" DUNNAVANT, SR.

Robert E. "Bob" Dunnavant, Sr., died October 9, 2017 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Elkton, Tennessee on July 24, 1931, Bob attended Elkton High School and upon graduation, attended the University of North Alabama, with a BA in 1953.

After graduating college, Bob served two years in the US Army with an honorable discharge.

The apex of his career was working for American Airlines as an Airport Operations Agent, retiring after 37 years in 1994.

After retirement, Bob followed his passion of music by working part time as the Operations Coordinator for Finas Sound Productions of New York City, NY for 10 years.

Bob continued to volunteer at the Memphis International Airport as a Blue Suede Shoes Airport Ambassador through 2015.

Robert Sr. was an active participant and member of St. Paul''s United Methodist Church, Lakeland, TN, playing the piano for his Sunday school class.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Elizabeth and Edgar Miller, and his sister, Annie Dean Rogers.

Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruby Delores; his children Robert E. Jr. (Edith) and Kelly R. Patterson (Michael); grandchildren Chelsea Guffin (Sunny) and Mallory Shelton (Steven); and great grandchildren Kinsley and Caden.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, October 12, 2017 with interment to follow all of which will be held at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park - East, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN 38133. (901) 382-1000.
