It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Joseph Irby Jr on July 18, 2024 at the age of 60. Robert was born on March 28, 1964 to Robert Joseph Irby Sr and Margaret Gannon Irby in Memphis, Tennessee.

Robert was a graduate of Elliston Baptist Academy, class of 1980. After graduating, he soon found his love for the restaurant and hospitality industry. Robert worked in many areas of the restaurant business, but ultimately found his niche in BBQ where he left a lasting impression on many. He helped win numerous awards for whole hog at Memphis in May BBQ Fest with Mac's Speed Shop including 5th place in 2015, 2nd place in 2017 and 8th place in 2018. Everyone who knew him knew he was a lover of all things sports (Go Vols and Go Pack), America, and Sami, his beloved german shepard who never left his side.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Margaret Irby. He is survived by his children Robert J Irby III, Miranda Hart (Patrick), Autumn Irby; sister Karen Stevenson (Jeff), nephew Joey Stevenson (Saralyn), niece Amber Gehrs (Bret) and great nephew Eric Gehrs.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 10:00am at Forest Hill Funeral Home-Midtown. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Robert's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
