Obituary

Robert L. Shirey, 75, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025. He was born in Hayti, MO on June 28, 1949, to the late Floyd and Gladys Shirey. After graduating high school, Robert went on to attend college at Union University where he earned a Bachelors degree. Soon after, he began teaching at Briarcrest Christian School, where he worked and retired after 51 dedicated years. Robert married the love of his life Donna, in Memphis, TN three days before his birthday on June 25, 1977, and from the union 4 beautiful children were created. Robert loved to sing and spread the gospel about his Lord and savior Jesus Christ, he was a member of Wells Station Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching his favorite football team Alabama play, but what he loved the most was spending time with his grandchildren. Leading chapel at Briarcrest school was another interest of his that he held dearly in his heart. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, as well as a sister Lucretia Akers. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 47 years, Donna Shirey, 4 children: Nathan Shirey (Kimberly), Stephen Shirey, Jenny Whitson (Jack), and Mark Shirey, as well as 5 grandchildren: Brooklynn, Colton, Callie, Eli, and Myles. He also leaves behind 5 siblings: Tommy Shirey, Jeanette Tucker, Joe Shirey, Michael Shirey, and Beth Grantham. Robert will forever be in our hearts, and we will miss him more than words can express.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wells Station Baptist Church or Briarcrest Christian School.
