Sargent First Class Major Robert Lester Sims, also known as Bob, was born June 20, 1933, in Eucutta, Mississippi. On July 14, 2025, in Memphis, TN, Bob graduated to Heaven, making him 92 years of age. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Lloyd Sims, both of Eucutta, Mississippi, his siblings, Marie Sims, Hazel Rankin, Nell Bourg, and Jerry Sims, leaving Ruth Pierce (Charles), as his only surviving sibling. He has been reunited with the love of his life, Lidia Zotti Sims, as well as two of his three daughters, Barbara S. Davis and Maria S. Davis, leaving Katie Reardon (Tom) as the last living child. Bob leaves behind to cherish his memory, five grandchildren: Lidia Smith, Jesse Reardon, Melody Smith, Robert Davis, and Elizabeth Davis, eight great grandchildren: Isabella Smith, Chace Owings, Natalie Taylor, Dalton Hoop, Mason Smith, Briana Wilson, Jupiter Malone, and Riley Reardon. It doesn't stop there, there are also eight great great grandchildren.

Bob proudly served his country for twenty one and half years, touring in the Vietnam and Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a highly decorated Ranger of our United States Army. Bob was a man with many hats, and if you know, you know, he always had a hat! Bob was a teacher, a coach, a traveler, a gardener, a sports enthusiast, a fisherman, an adrenaline seeker, and most of all a family man. He was a soldier, a leader, and a hero. One of the smartest, most humble, caring, bravest, funniest, honest, and most honorable man. He has taught, trained, loved, and been loved by many men, women, children, and animals across the world. In a perfect world he would still be here, but no matter what, he will forever be in our hearts.
