Obituary

Robert K. Wiggins, 91, of Germantown, TN, was born on March 3,1929 in Memphis TN, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Virginia "Ginny" Wiggins, 3 children, Greg Wiggins (Cathy), Donna Brown (Randy), Dawn Mason (Johnny); 6 grandchildren, Heather Powers, Emily Lee, Melissa Williams, Stewart Vaughn, Allison Vaughn, Daniel Vaughn; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Addie Wiggins, brother, Thomas Wiggins, and sister, Farris Mayfield.

Robert served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper from 1947 - 1950, one year of which was in Japan. In 2012, accompanied by his daughter Dawn, Robert had an experience of a lifetime when he went on a "Trip of Honor" to Washington, D. C. with Forever Young Veterans. He loved America, and after his service, he continued to fight for his country with his prayers.

Robert was a man of strong faith, yet very gentle and kind. He loved Jesus and enjoyed sharing Him with others. He was a dedicated husband and a loving father and grandfather. From a young age, he had a gift for woodworking. An incredibly skilled wood craftsman, Robert owned a woodworking business in Memphis, The Showcase House, for 34 years. His family is blessed to have many pieces of furniture he crafted. Each is a cherished memory.

Known for his impeccable character, he was involved in numerous ministries through the years. Most recently he served at Brinkley Heights Ministries, sharing Jesus with those who came to receive assistance with food and other physical needs.

Robert was a member and served as a deacon at 3 churches: LaBelle Haven Baptist Church from 1950's – 1987, Bellevue Baptist Church from 1987 – 2007, and Germantown Baptist, where his membership resides. He taught a men's Sunday School class for many decades.

One of Robert's passions was exercise and staying physically fit. He started in his teens and continued until a couple of weeks before he went to Heaven. He owned "Robert's Gym" in his early years and continued to work out and stay strong through the years. Another passion was snow skiing. He and Ginny loved to go to Colorado and enjoy the mountains with their friends.
