IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roger Malcolm
Hendrickson
June 3, 1948 – November 14, 2024
Roger Hendrickson passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2024, at the age of 76. Born to Bud and Kathryn Hendrickson on June 3 of 1948 in Stoughton, WI, his family uprooted themselves throughout the southeast before settling in Memphis, TN in January of 1960 when Roger was 11 years old. He dedicated his life to Jehovah God and symbolized his dedication by water baptism that same year in a creek in Lawrenceburg, TN. Roger remained faithful to Jehovah until he fell asleep in death.
On April 18, 1970, Roger married Deborah Patterson. Roger and Deborah met on November 7, 1969, when Deborah made the trip from Dallas, TX to visit friends. Six months later in Dallas, they married. Roger and Deborah made their home in Memphis, where they had two daughters, Katie Marie and Lisa René. Roger took from his father a strong work ethic and an innate ability to build, and he devoted his professional life to construction where he oversaw a multitude of projects that shaped the community. He worked as a Construction Superintendent for Priester & Associates for 37 years, where he was still working part time when he passed away. Roger was known for his attention to detail, steadfast leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence in his building projects.
Beyond his career, Roger was a cornerstone in the lives of those who knew him. He was a mentor to many and a source of strength to his family; his stories could brighten the darkest days, and his determination inspired all who worked alongside him. Roger's greatest joy in life was his family, and his love for them was limitless and unconditional. Roger treasured the time spent with his loved ones. Whether a family fun night out or a Sunday Funday of backhoe riding and bonfires, he always found joy in life's simple pleasures.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Kathryn Hendrickson. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Deborah Hendrickson, his daughters Katie (Justin) Lewis and Lisa (Jay) Hamblin, four grandchildren, Ryan Wills, Gracie Doyle, Josi Lewis and Riley Doyle, and three granddogs, Lola, Ellie and Buddy. Roger also leaves two sisters, Patricia Hood of Coulterville, IL and Kathy Cox of Port Washington, WI and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23rd at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 850 Collierville-Arlington Road in Collierville, TN. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the worldwide work of Jehovah's Witnesses at JW.org. "And I have a hope toward God…that there is going to be a resurrectionof both the righteous and the unrighteous." Acts 24:15
