Obituary

In Loving Memory of Rose Marie (Skeen) Jones

Rose Marie (Skeen) Jones, age 90, of Cordova, Tennessee, passed away on September 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt whose greatest joy in life was her family.

Rose Marie was born in Drew, Mississippi, on May 25, 1936, to Lona and Ervin Skeen. She was one of seven children. She attended Methodist Nursing School in Memphis and dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a nurse before retiring.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Edward A. Jones of Cordova, Tennessee, and her daughter, Brenda "Brennie" K. Jones of Collierville, Tennessee.

She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Griffin, and brother-in-law John Griffin of Nashville, Tennessee; her sister Jean Legg of Willcox, Arizona; her brother Joe Skeen and sister-in-law Beverly Skeen of Kosciusko, Mississippi; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sue and Don Duke of Richmond, Indiana, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

Rose Marie was a loving grandmother to Myca Holmes of Cicero, Indiana; Katie Keats of Louisville, Kentucky; Lain Dickinson of Katy, Texas; Taylor Marie Dickinson of The Woodlands, Texas; and Kason and Keegan Jones of Olive Branch, Mississippi. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Aiden and Grant Holmes, Hudson and Elliot Keats, and Clara Marie Frank, as well as her great-great-grandchild, Weston Holmes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lona and Ervin Skeen; her sisters, Erline and Virginia Skeen; her brother, Mack Skeen; her son, Edward "Eddie" Ervin Jones; and her sisters-in-law, Martha Hill and Anne Ledbetter.

Rose Marie treasured her family above all else, and she especially cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved taking her grandchildren shopping and introducing them to the wonderful world of books at the local library. Reading to them was a favorite tradition, as were working on jigsaw puzzles together and playing board games such as checkers.

She had a passion for gardening and bird watching, and delighted in sharing those simple pleasures with her children and grandchildren. Her love of nature, books, games, needlepoint and family created countless memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

Christmas was Rose Marie's favorite holiday. She embraced the season with enthusiasm and joy, often beginning her decorating as early as October. Each of the five bedrooms in her home had its own unique Christmas theme, thoughtfully decorated with the things that

each grandchild loved most. Her dedication to making the holidays magical reflected the love and care she gave her family throughout her life.

Rose Marie's faith was central to who she was, and her Bible studies held a special place in her heart. Through them, she built a close and lasting community of women, forming friendships rooted in shared faith, support, and love. Her devotion to her family and her caring spirit were a reflection of that same faith she carried with her every day.
