The Memphis community lost a pillar on Wednesday, June 29th, 2022, when Roy Lynn Young, Sr., lovingly known as "Fireman Roy," passed away. His contributions to the lives of many include his dedications as an United States Army veteran serving with the 23rd Infantry Ski Borne Rangers Mountain Brigade, leader of the Memphis Fire Department, and figurehead of the Memphis Gun Club. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Linda Philpot Young. Mr. Young is also survived by his son, Roy Jr. (Greta); grandchildren Nicole (Stuart) Davis and Cody Young; and great-grandchildren Ret and Goldie Lynn. He will be dearly missed by his brothers, William (Opal) and Gene Young, and many family and friends.

Funeral and Viewing will be held Thursday July 7th, at Forest Hill Funeral Home East 2440 Whitten Rd. Memphis, TN 38133 from 1 PM to 2:30. Burial proceedings will follow at Memorial Park cemetery at 3 PM, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119.
