Ruble Eugene Anderson, 98 , passed away o n March 24, 2022. A lifelong Memphis resident , he was born in Saulsb ury , TN. He served in the U . S . Navy during WW II in San Diego, C A where he met his now deceased wife , Ruby Irene Huff Anderson, of 66 yea rs. After the war, they se ttled in Memphis, started their family, and became active at Lamar Heights Baptist Church and later, at Cherry Road Baptist Church. While at e a ch , Ruble w as a respected D eacon. He was a longtime employee and retiree of the U.S. Postal Service, where he served as an officer o f the local union. He was an avid fan of U niversity of M emphis athletics holding basketball and football season tickets since 1947 . He also was a longtime coach of youth basketball and ba seball and won many league championships and the city cha mpionship. He mentored an u ntold number of young people and was selfle ss as a volunteer in many organizations. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by h is son Duane Anderson, Memphis, TN and h is daughter, Mary Elaine Anderso n Burkhardt , Cypress, TX . He is survived by his son, Darrell Anderson of Washington Grove, MD, and a daughter, Rhonda Anderson Rowan of Collierville, TN; 7 grandchildren , 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grand daughter .
