Ruby Lee Banks was born Ruby Lee Barnett to Jetter Lucille Hill and Milton Lee Barnett on November 16, 1932 in Thorne, Mississippi. She passed to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.

Ruby grew up in Chickasaw County, Mississippi with her brother Kenneth Barnett who predeceased her. She married James Edward Banks in a double elopement on January 1, 1948 in Pittsboro, Mississippi. They lived in Chicago and Memphis, then made their family home in Nesbit, Mississippi in the 1970''s. Ruby retired from Shulton, Inc. where she made many lifelong friends. During retirement she worked at the family trucking company, T.A.M. Cartage, Inc. then at Horseshoe Casino. James and Ruby were married until his death in 2002.

She is predeceased by her son, James "Jimmy" Kenneth Banks and daughter Theresa Dianne Banks Toby. Ruby was also predeceased by her brothers Dwight Barnett and Earle Barnett. Ruby is survived by her siblings Barbara Moore (Larry), Marty Parker (Larry), Brenda Russell (Buster), Jimmy Lynn Barnett; and her sister of the heart Gladys Williams Barnett; children Kathy McLearen (James) of Hernando, Donna Grai (Mark) of Cordova, Cindi Laughter of Southaven, grandchildren Micah McLearen, Brooke Toby, Casey McLearen, James Laughter, Joseph Grai, Jason Laughter, Sarah Grai, Matthew Laughter and Kari Laughter, nine great-grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Forest Hill Funeral Home on Holmes Road 10 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017. The home going celebration will be at 11 a.m. with burial following at Bruce Cemetery in Bruce, Mississippi.
