At around
noon
on Saturday, April 7, 2018, Ruby Gregory Millner slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God, Her whole life was one of serving, whether it was at her restaurant bringing her customers food served up with love and a smile or with her family and friends by a thousand daily acts of kindness. Right now she is hearing the words from her Lord, "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your reward." From now on all her children and her children's children will rise up and call her blessed.
Born on October 7 1924 to Mertie and Thomas Jefferson Benefield in Cullman, AL, she was the youngest of 7 children.
She was married to Sylvanus (Bud) Gregory for 42 years until his death. She later married Floyd Millner, who passed away after only 4 years.
She leaves her daughter, Delores Gregory Johnson(Charles), son, Larry Gregory (Jan)
and step daughter Betty Emerson (John).
Her grandchildren are Greg Johnson, Leigh Johnson Qualls(Steve), Dana Powell, Tina Bussey (Lane), Steve Williams (Teresa), and Robin Tatum (Doug). Her great grandchildren are Tyler Wilson (Meredith),, Chelsi Carruth(Clay), Ethan, Ephraim and Lizzie Qualls.
She began working at a very young age. She eventually owned a restaurant in the McCall Building in downtown Memphis for several years, then she continued her career as Director of Dining Services at Mary Galloway Home for Women.
Ruby loved to work and loved to keep house (spotless). She was known and loved for her work ethic, her sense of humor, and her devotion, love, and loyalty to her family and friends and to her Lord,
Services will be held at Forest Hill East,
2440 Whitten Rd, Memphis
with interment at Forest Hill, Midtown. Visitation is from
12:30 pm to 2:00
with services to follow,
