Ruby Clara (Johnson) Owens, 98, of Memphis, TN passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, April 14, 2020 at Foxbridge Assisted Living and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ruby, affectionately known as Ruby Duby, was born on June 1, 1921 in Batesville, MS to Elbert and Edna Johnson.  Ruby worked for many years in the grocery industry. She had a true servant's heart and loved her family and friends unconditionally.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Whitfield Owens; her parents, Elbert and Edna Johnson; and her seven brothers, Vincent, Cecil, Irby, Odis, Edward, Grady and Segrest.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Nancy Atkins (Jimmie); her grandsons, Jason Atkins (Shannon) and Justin Atkins (Katie); and her six great grandchildren (Nicole, Nathan, Addyson, Sage, Owen and Laney); and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be sent to New Church Memphis, Senior Adult Fund, 4917 Macon Rd., Memphis, TN 38122.

Due to current restrictions a private graveside service will be held at Forest Hill East on Monday, April 20, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.  The family will plan a Celebration of Her Life at a future date.
