Rubye Thompson of Memphis went to her heavenly home on April 8, 2025 at the age of 94.

She grew up in Henderson, Tennessee, the daughter of Vernon and Ollie Belle Carroll. She attended Chester Co. Elementary School and High School. She earned a business degree from West Tennessee Business College.

She moved to Memphis in 1952 when she married her husband, Thomas Gene Thompson. They were married 66 years and had two children: Carol Deaver (Leo) and Craig Thompson (Cindy). She also leaves 3 grandchildren: Bryant Deaver (Whitney), Rachel Roberts (Daniel), and Nathaniel Thompson (Bridgette) and seven great grandchildren: Wyatt Roberts, Charlee Belle Roberts, Bryce Deaver, Brynlee Deaver, Tucker Thompson, Easton Thompson, and Cooper Thompson. She was preceded in passing by her loving husband of 66 years, Thomas Gene Thompson.

She was a member of Grimes Memorial United Methodist Church for 60+ years where she served in many capacities. After the church closed, she became a member of Mullins United Methodist Church.

She was a Reach to Recovery volunteer, Methodist Hospital volunteer and an avid visitor of the sick and shut-ins.

She retired from Christ Methodist Day School after 33 years, a place she loved dearly.

Anyone who met her, knew how much she loved her Memphis Tigers and Memphis Grizzlies. She was one of the biggest fans ever.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association, Music Fund at Mullins United Methodist Church or donor's choice.
